She was not only the godess of rainbows, but also a messenger for the gods, especially for Hera. She, (in an echo of the Biblical story of Noah), as a godess of rainbows represents the pact between men and gods and the end of the storm.
A gorgeous piece of art. The rainbow in her hands contrasts her domain as the goddess of rainbows beautifully and she looks so serene and beautiful. I love the background you put her in, she is commonly depicted as a messenger goddess that travels from one end of the world to another at the speed of wind. Sometimes she is shown as a goddess of the sea and sky. You represent those aspects beautifully, the vast ocean below and the clouds in the sky behind her.
AHHHHH, lovely...just lovely...suddendly I have a HUGE desire to witness rainbows..I'm sure it has nothing to do with bold and beautiful here...Love the way her hair and dress flies back beyond the beautiful skyline background...When I look at this picture of Iris, I can't help but mellow out and "Taste the Rainbow" hehehehe...Feels like I'm in a beautiful daydream with the goddess of rainbows and I never wanna wake up...Even after 5-6 years, this depiction of the rainbow goddess still leaves one's imagination open...Beautiful in all the right places
Beautiful...Wow, I remember praying to a lot of these Greek Gods when I was little. Technically, I still do it now, but when I was smaller, I especially remember praying to Iris. This is a wonderful way to capture her beauty. A job well done! +Fave
